vesperae.author.educationVentura of Bevania studied theology at the convent of Pisa, where he graduated in 1388.en_US
vesperae.work.notesLike most of the authors in Simon of Cascina’s collection, the witness to his vesperies is the recommendatio he delivered for him, and which is extant in ms. Città del Vaticano, Barb. Lat. 710, ff. 104va-105va: “vesperie quas feci in collegio sancti Michaelis de Pisis pro magistro Ventura de Bevania.” Like all sermons of its kind, it says nothing about the debate that characterized the vesperial session, but it focuses on the ceremonial aspect, divided between entertaining the crowd and commending the vesperiandus.en_US
