vesperae.author.education | Willelm of Mackelisfilde’s career dates are rather few, with most of his academic activity illustrated by ms. Worcester, Cathedral Library, Q. 99. He was one of the definitores at the general chapter in Besançon, held in May 1303, but died upon his return. His inception, therefore, is before this date; according to Little, this happened circa 1299-1300, while Emden suggests 1298, a date also advanced by Käpelli. Both Pelster and the editors of the Historical Dictionary propose a period of studies at Paris (1293-1294), culminating with his inception in 1298. | en_US |
