Peter of Baldeswelle was the 30 th lector of the Franciscans at Oxford and graduated in theology around 1301-1302. The vesperies extant in ms. Worcester, Cathedral Library, Q. 99, ff. 69rb-69vb, have been attributed to him by A. G. Little, who also edited them. The title is a simple Vesperie and it is immediately followed by another question titled Inceptio Baldeswille. The attribution is purely based on the proximity of the two and the logical order of vesperies – inception (aula), which makes the authorship probable. The vespera is marginally annotated with seven names attached to different arguments for and against the question: Hicham, Kirkeby, Carmelita, Stratton, Bucfast, Wedersfild, Feversham. At least Hicham and Feversham were already regent masters at the time of Baldeswelle’s graduation, which would help see this question as the second vesperial disputation.
