Directorium Confessorum.” We can remark the unusual “in 5 libros Sententiarum,” without necessarily being able to explain it beyond a typographical error. vesperae.author.education | John of Cusin enjoys little attention in the modern research, which makes his biography rather scarce, most of it being linked to John Hiltalingen of Basel’s and James of Eltville’s Sentences commentaries, the latter probably taking Cusin as a source from the former. This can be in part understood as a result of his lost commentary on the Sentences, even though some smaller writings have survived. The uncertainty regarding the date of his inception could also be traced back to this situation, as none of the suggestions rely on clear evidence. As such, Kaluza uses Quetif’s and Echard’s catalogue to propose 1369, and Marcolino uses Löhr and Käpelli to date it to 1368, even though Käpelli himself only 132 approximates “before 1368” to be the year he opposed Hiltalingen. Working around the lack of primary documents for his inception, what we can do is provide all the accessible evidence there is. | en_US |
