vesperae.author.educationThere is very little to be found about Thomas of Vico, and most of it revolves around his magisterium. Simon of Cascina is the one who delivers his recommendatio, a small “sermon” dedicated to the vesperiandus; the derisiva, which is a part of this sermon meant to mock the candidate for the entertainment of the public, informs us that Thomas travelled to Paris, but whether he studied there or not, it is not clear. It is certain, though, that he incepted at Pisa sometime before September 1387, when he is already addressed as magisteren_US
vesperae.work.notesThe only testimony to his vesperies is Cascina’s recommendatio, extant in ms. Città del Vaticano, Barb. Lat. 710, ff. 102rb-103va, and edited by Käpelli in « La raccolta, » pp. 237-241: “These are the vesperies that I made in Pisa to the same master Thomas, and I was vicar to the archbishop of Pisa.en_US
