Simon of Cascina is the one who delivers his recommendatio, a small “sermon” dedicated to the vesperiandus; the derisiva, which is a part of this sermon meant to mock the candidate for the entertainment of the public, informs us that Thomas travelled to Paris, but whether he studied there or not, it is not clear. It is certain, though, that he incepted at Pisa sometime before September 1387, when he is already addressed as magister
